Explore an Ocean of Books at our MS Book Fair!

Under the sea. Under the sea. Your books won't get soggy because we're in a li-brar-y!

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

• Set the example. Let children see you read.
• Have a collection of books in the home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
• Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair to help you support reading in your children’s lives.

Book Fair Dates: May 6-13 at SCC Middle School Library
Open before/after concerts on May 7 and 12

Shopping Hours: Students can browse and shop the book fair anytime during the school day, as long as they have their teacher’s permission. The fair will be open shortly before school starts, but will NOT be open after school.
On May 7 and 12 the fair will be open from 3:15 until 7:30 for students and families to shop.

Shop Online: If you can't make it to the school, you can always shop online by visiting our Book Fair website. This runs May 4-15 and items will be shipped to the school for free.

We are also running a classroom wish list program, which will be available during the nights of the concerts. Teachers will pick out books that they would like for their classroom libraries. Please consider supporting our readers by purchasing one of these classroom wish list books.

To encourage students to read and have some fun, we are also running a few special events. Friday, May 8 will be Hawaiian shirt day and students can get their pictures taken in the library that day. Winners of locker lottery will get $10 to spend on a book at the fair. And students can practice their estimation skills by guessing how many goldfish crackers fit into a jar (winner gets the jar of goldfish plus a book from the fair).

And lastly we have a goal for the fair. Our goal is $2200 in sales. This will give us over $1000 for our classroom and school library. If reach our goal, several staff members have volunteered to eat/drink a Happy Meal that has been blended up in all it's fast-food-goodness. But the students will only get to see them try to ingest this Happy Meal smoothie if we reach our goal. Students can check out the goal chart in the library to see our progress, or check out Book Fair Website.

Thank you very much and hope to see you there!
