Elementary - A Book about Color: A Clear and Simple Guide for Young Artists by Mark Gonyea.
A guide to color theory, designed for young artists, that covers topics such as reasons for selecting specific colors, what the primary and secondary colors are, and how to use colors for different meanings within an illustration.

Middle School - A Book about Design: Complicated Doesn't Make It Good by Mark Gonyea.
Contains information on artistic design, in simple text with color illustrations, explaining how design is about perception of size, color, and shape and shows that it doesn't have to be complex to be good.

High School - Go: A Kidd's Guide to Graphic Design by Chip Kidd
Graphic designer Chip Kidd describes the elements of graphic design, including form, function, color, and typography.
